WIND ENSEMBLE

This band is open to 9th – 12th graders who have achieved the tonal, technical, and reading competency needed to perform grade 3.5 and higher music literature. Students must successfully audition for this class. This class is for woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists (as well as double bass).  Students are expected to practice regularly and will be tested on material including scales, technical exercises, music theory, and excerpts from the literature. Emphasis will be on the continued development of tone production, technique development, theory knowledge, pitch and rhythm reading skills with the intent of developing college/university ready musicians. Performances and rehearsals are an extension of the classroom. Students are expected to perform in concerts, presentations, festivals, parades, field shows, and competitions including all home football games, some basketball games, and Solo & Ensemble. Optional
events and trips will be offered to students. This group will be required to perform in the Pep Band.
